I am currently sitting here listening to the pre-release copy of Norah Jones’ new album …Featuring. I have always been a HUGE Norah Jones fan since her very first album. Her very jazzy style voice and fantastic instruments have always been a favorite in my iPod playlist.
This new album, ...Featuring, is full of songs featuring different artists such as Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, OutKast, Foo Fighters, and many more.
While there are some artists on this album that I don’t know, for the most part, this album is worthy of Norah Jones’ versatile talent.
There are a few songs I could have done without…Bull Rider is a country styled song done with Sasha Dobson. This song just wasn’t up the caliber of Norah Jones’ country talent. I have heard her do country in the past and was blown away, but this song did not live up.
Life is Better, with Q-Tip (rap/hip-hop style), and Soon the New Day, with Talib Kweli (rap/hip-hop style), are simply not my kind of thing and therefore were not songs I enjoyed.
I would have to say that my favorite song on this album …Featuring was definitely Creepin’ In with Dolly Parton. In a close second were Ruler of My Heart, with Robert Rundolph and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Here We Go Again, with Ray Charles.
Overall, I liked this album and loved how she chose to sing with artists old and new to create a very unique CD. I hope you enjoy!
